Municipal Administration Department Minister KN Nehru said that Salem Corporation will be made a garbage-free city.Salem Corporation’s new bus stand ground held a ceremony to donate vehicles and equipment for solid waste management works on behalf of the corporation on Saturday.
In this event, 75 light vehicles worth Rs. 5.40 crore and the Stainless Steel Compact 600 Pins at Rs. 3.90 crores and 5200 colored waste baskets in green and blue at a cost of Rs. 41.60 lakhs and 3 mechanical road cleaning machines at Rs. 90 lakh worth of vehicles and equipment worth Rs. 10.62 crores, Municipal Administration Department Minister K.N. Nehru said:
Salem Corporation has been provided with vehicles and equipment under the Solid Waste Management Scheme. Biodegradable waste and non-biodegradable waste will be segregated separately, biodegradable waste will be composted and non-biodegradable waste will be sent to landfill.Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has ordered all the municipalities and corporations in the state to take all measures to make them garbage-free.
Based on that, such work is going on. Some procedures will be followed to sort the garbage collected daily into biodegradable garbage and non-biodegradable garbage.In the near future, steps will be taken to make all the Municipal Corporations and Municipalities a garbage-free city. Salem Corporation has provided separate vehicles for composting and non-biodegradable waste. He said that within one year we will make Salem a garbage-free city.
He further told reporters that adequate funds are being allocated to all the Municipal Corporations in Tamil Nadu. Steps will be taken to allocate additional funds to the Salem Corporation. Amma Restaurant will continue to operate. A large number of people work in Amma restaurants. In the absence of sufficient income, people are working in a cyclical manner.
