Salem : Periyar University Vice-Chancellor Jagannathan said that Tamil Nadu is at the 2nd place in the country in submission to be included in the national ranking list.
More than one hundred arts and science colleges are functioning in Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri districts under the administration of Periyar University. A one-day special workshop was held on Tuesday to encourage these colleges to participate in the national ranking list. Registrar R. Balakurunathan welcomed. Vice Chancellor R. Jagannathan Inaugurated the workshop & spoke:
When the number of students is less in some colleges, then in some colleges they should be left somehow, the public shows great enthusiasm. The college’s position in the national ranking list has been a new one, with the faculty’s teaching ability, good internal structure and employment being the main factors. The number of colleges applying for national rankings has increased by 28 percent over last year. Maharashtra is at the top with 466 colleges, Tamil Nadu is at the 2nd position with 308 colleges and Andhra Pradesh is at the 3rd position with 222 colleges. Periyar University is taking creative initiatives to make our regional colleges one of the top 100 colleges in India.
Field Principal S. Kannan thanked. M. Rajarajeswari, National Ranking Officer, Krishnammal College, Coimbatore, spoke about the purpose of the workshop and the methods for it.
