The construction works to lay a service road at the Four Roads Junction here are nearing completion.
The State Highways department began the works to lay the service road between the Four Roads Junction and New Bus stand that was part of the two-tier flyover connecting major junctions in the city. Though the flyover works got over almost a year ago, the service road works got delayed owing to land acquisition issues.
According to officials, a temple had to be removed to facilitate the construction. The works were started after an amicable solution was arrived at regarding shifting the temple. The officials said drainage works had been almost completed for the stretch and road laying works were expected to be completed in two days.
A flyover was constructed at the Four Roads Junction as part of the two-tier flyover project connecting major junctions in the city. The flyover stretch from Anna Park to Kurunguchavadi travels over the Four Roads Junction and has a downward lane which ends near TVS Bus stop. Through service road works from New Bus Stand to the Four Roads Junction was completed earlier, the works in downward traffic direction delayed.
Motorists travelling towards New Bus Stand from Ramakrishna Road had to earlier over 1 km to access the u-turn near Gandhi Stadium or near the Collectorate junction here to access the flyover as the service road was non-motorable. The construction of service road would facilitate easy movement of vehicles at the junction.
